Image via WikipediaWe have had backyard anthills on every property we have owned so it’s nothing new and I would say that most people have to deal with anthills.
So how to you rid your yard of those ants and their ugly anthills without destroying the environment? We prefer the GREEN solution.
Well here are 5 ways to get rid of backyard anthills.
1.
You could dig them up but that’s a lot of work. The anthills we have had seem to be all sand and makes a big ugly bump in our yard so even after using other methods to get rid of the ants you still need to dig up the anthill and replace it with good top soil so your yard gets looking great again.
I thought about using dynamite but my wife said she wanted to keep me home instead of in prison so we scrapped that idea.
2. Here is one I got from
Yahoo Answers. You can use
GRITS to rid yourself of live ants. Unfortunately they will explode once they eat the grits so you will have ant innerds all over the place.
NOTE: You could try designing a tiny sign that says it’s better in your neighbours yard. The smart ants pack up and move right in. Problem solved, for you.
3.
The Local Nursery. Don’t forget to check with your local nursery for non-toxic solutions.
4. Garden Alive has a product called
Liquid Ant Killer & Bait Holder that can solve your ant problems as long as they have a sweet tooth.
5. We have a few anthills around our yard and my wife went the plain white vinegar route and it seems to have done the job. It’s still early in the season here so for this one we are not making any promises, but so far so good.
