The variety of options available today can make choosing a supplement a daunting task; it seems that you could be endlessly downing herbs, pills, and powders. You need to focus on the categories of supplements that provide the best results. One of these is antioxidant supplements. The scientists have not been able to prove as to why people consuming these fresh fruits and vegetables are less prone to various heart disease than the people who eat processed foods, why the people who eat these natural supplements are less prone to cancer than the people who eat refined foods. Well the answer may lie in the fact that these natural foods provides anti oxidants to the body but it is much more than that. More over there should be some way for people who eat refined foods to avoid the above mentioned disease are there are many reasons due to which a person is not able to have fresh fruits and vegetables. The answer lies in antioxidant supplements. Recent studies have shown that part of the benefit from eating fresh produce everyday comes from antioxidants. These are substances that defend our body against the ravages brought on by free radicals. The first ever antioxidants to catch the attention of scientists and the vitamin supplement industry is beta-carotene or more commonly known as Vitamin A. Now, you can find antioxidant supplements in the form of Vitamin A capsules in almost any pharmacy or health food store. Beta-carotene antioxidant supplements generally come from orange, yellow, and green leafy vegetables and fruit. There also many exotic fruits not available in the United States that contain large amounts of antioxidants. Researchers have found large amounts in both the Wolfberry and Mangosteen fruits. The problem with these is that, due to import regulations, exotic fruit can not be imported fresh. So the antioxidants can only be found in dietary supplements that contain these two exotic fruits. No matter what form your antioxidants come in, your health can only benefit from their power. Antioxidants have even recently been linked to improved mental status with those who are in the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease. Adding antioxidants to your diet through food or supplement is a great thing for you to do for your body.
